NEWARK, N.J. & NEW YORK & ROCKVILLE, MD. (PRWEB) JANUARY 14, 2021
Saving Jane, New Jersey Coalition Against Human Trafficking (NJCAHT), and Student Global Ambassador Program (SGAP Leaders), today joined forces with 1Huddle to educate teachers, parents, and children about online grooming. The nonprofits, which are dedicated to fighting human trafficking and empowering survivors, are utilizing 1Huddle’s technology to educate teachers, parents, and children about human trafficking in honor of National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, which takes place during the month of January.
1Huddle is converting the human trafficking educational materials of all three organizations into a mobile gaming app with a series of games covering their most important topics. The games will cover grooming, trafficking prevention, and trafficker awareness. Players will participate in the Slam Dunk Against Human Trafficking Challenge, where they can compete for prizes and awards. The games are available to all existing 1Huddle users, and will be available to more than 100 New Jersey schools.
“Online child abuse and exploitation has spiked as students spend more screen-time inside during the pandemic. Our goal is to empower our youth so that they are aware of the dangers of online grooming,” said Michele Joseph, Executive Director of SGAP Leaders.
“As a result of the pandemic, the educational work our organizations were doing in schools around the country has significantly decreased. 1Huddle’s technology is a fantastic solution that will enable us to educate thousands of parents, children, and educators about the warning signs and how to prevent trafficking,” said Kathyann Powell, CEO and Founder of Saving Jane. “We are so grateful to join forces with 1Huddle, NJCAHT, and SGAP Leaders so we can continue our mission to prevent human trafficking.”
In 2019 alone, Federal law enforcement agencies initiated more than 1,600 new investigations into human traffickers, and the Department of Justice’s human trafficking task forces opened more than 2,500 new cases on the frontlines. 1Huddle, Saving Jane, NJCAHT, and SGAP are working together to provide access to other schools across the country, as well as essential workers, airline employees and more. Human trafficking is one of the largest criminal enterprises worldwide, and there are more people enslaved in the world today than during any point in transatlantic slavery. “At 1Huddle we are committed to fighting for equal access, opportunity and respect for every worker,” said 1Huddle CEO Sam Caucci. “When we were introduced to these organizations, we knew we had to help. Because we turn content into games, we’re able to soften a very heavy topic, making it more approachable for parents and teachers to address with a younger audience. We are proud to offer our technology for such an important cause and truly admire the work these organizations do.”
The 1Huddle app can be downloaded in the iOS and Android stores.
