Life is hard, and TravisMathew, with its soft cloud knits and office-ready athleisure, is a brand that believes clothes shouldn’t make it harder.

Their styles are versatile, comfortable, and most importantly, designed to make the wearer’s life easier.

So, there was some irony to the fact that they couldn’t find a learning platform that did the same.

“We were really looking for a way to make training more fun and just, like, something more automated that didn’t feel so cumbersome on our training team.” Kari Chambers, Retail Operations Manager at TravisMathew, recalled.

“Traditionally,” she explained, “an LMS program is something you really need to hunker down at a computer and designate a big amount of time for.”

And in retail? That just doesn’t work.

Shops make particularly challenging atmospheres for training and development. As Kari says, “we have to work around traffic.”

They needed a platform that, like their clothing, was versatile enough to move with them.

[You can use 1Huddle] in quick spurts, when it works for your team, which is really nice, especially in retail.

Now, with 1Huddle’s mobile-first design, struggling to make time for training is a thing of the past.

In fact, making time for fun, trivia-based training games is something her team has excelled at.

“It’s fun for everyone to see how they’re doing and how their store measures up to other stores […] They’re thinking about it all the time.

Kari Chambers: So my name’s Kari Chambers. I am the Retail Operations Manager at TravisMathew, and we love 1Huddle.

So what made you guys choose 1Huddle?

KC: We were really looking for a way to make training more fun and just, like, something more automated that didn’t feel so cumbersome on our training team. At the time, we didn’t even have a training team, so it was really just our ops team. So it just seemed like a great way to make it more fun and accessible for everyone.

What is your favorite part of 1Huddle? If you could pick one thing.

KC:  I think the leaderboard. I think it’s so fun for everyone to see how they’re doing and how their store measures up to other stores like people are just competitive so it’s fun.

So if you were talking to someone about 1Huddle, how would you describe it?

KC: I would say it feels sort of like a fun Facebook quiz that your mom would send to you, but about content that matters.

 Well, that’s a good description.

KC: You mean though, where you’re like, ‘Thanks mom!’.

So we know a lot of brands are still using LMS in that, you know, that traditional training style. What would you say is the biggest difference between that and 1Huddle?

KC: I think traditionally an LMS program is something you really need to hunker and sit down at a computer and designate a big amount of time for, and this, you can really do it in quick spurts when it works for your team, which is really nice, especially in retail. Like we have to work around traffic. So it’s just easier. Yeah.

People that are playing. Is there some interesting feedback that you hear from them? Stuff that they’re saying?

KC: Yeah. We obviously only ask people to play when they’re on the clock. But we’ve seen a ton of people playing it at midnight. Which is really funny to me. Like they’re sitting at home and they’re just like, “I gotta play, I gotta get to the top of the leaderboard.” So I love that. I love hearing that people are playing all the time. They’re thinking about it all the time.

That’s great. Anything else you wanted to add?

KC:  Bri is amazing, we love her. And the customer service is great.

Thank you. And that’s a wrap.
